Gary James, 39, an award-winning magician from Drylaw, names his top five Edinburgh places to buy magic accessories, as well as through his website: www.themagicworkshop.co.uk
Aha ha ha, Victoria Street. Although they deal mainly in jokes and fancy dress, they do carry a small range of professional magic items.

Jenners, Princes Street. They stock the Marvin's Magic range, which is of excellent quality and ideal for anyone wishing to learn magic. Marvin's executive sets are very good for adults who want to learn.

John Lewis, St James Centre. They also stock a range of Marvin's Magic and sometimes have magic sets from other companies.

Poundland, St James Centre. They often seem to have small, inexpensive magic sets that are ideally suited to children who want to get a first magic set.

Toys 'R' Us, Kinnaird Park, Newcraighall Road. They stock a range of larger magic kits by well known names in magic such as Paul Daniels and Stephen Mulhearn.
