PAKISTAN successfully test-fired an indigenous short-range nuclear-capable missile today, the military said.
The surface-to-surface Abdali ballistic missile - which has a range of 125 miles and was launched from an undisclosed location inside Pakistan - "can carry all types of warheads," the military said in a statement issued from Rawalpindi.

The military did not provide any further details, but Pakistan and its nuclear-armed rival, neighbouring India, routinely test missiles.

Pakistan's test comes about a week after India tested its indigenously developed air-to-air Astra missile, with a range of up to 50 miles.

Pakistan and India have fought two of three wars over the mountainous Kashmir region, which is divided between the two countries, but claimed in entirety by both, after gaining independence from Britain 1947.

The leaders from Pakistan and India will meet next week on the sidelines of a regional summit in New Delhi. The two countries are main members of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, or SAARC, which will hold its annual summit in New Delhi on April 3-4.

Brilliant news. They've solved all of their problems in that part of the sub continent including poverty, poor health and a lack of education facilities, finally freeing up resources so that the generals can make a big bang. The population must be so proud.

Pakistan ,India and Israel have not signed NPT but they have nuclear weapons . they must not be even blamed .
Iran , my country, have signed NPT but must be sanctioned for enjoying its legal rights based on NPT .
This is a new form of justice and equal treatment which is done by UN !!!!!!!!

Just like in this country, all of our national problems are long gone we can afford to spend BILLIONS on a war, nobody supports, and has no benefit for us...Good Bless America!

Pity Colonialism went out of fashion. Everyone knew where they stood then.

None of this striving for superiority tosh.

Think about it. If it wasn't for our half- hearted ways of dealing with his predecessor ,George Washington , George Dubya would be a British citizen today.
And Pakistan wouldn't exist. It would be a region in Her Imperial Majesty's India.

Oh , we have a lot to answer for.

I don't see him jumping up and down to get into North Korea either, and they are already testing their nuclear weapons...
