CCTV appeal to trace man in blue Stone Island jacket after armed robbery attempt at Niddrie shop

Police in Edinburgh have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to who may be able to assist with enquiries in relation to an attempted robbery.

A 56-year-old man who was working in the store was approached by a man who entered the shop with a knife. He threatened the shopkeeper and demanded money but was refused and left empty handed.

The man police wish to speak with is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall with a medium build. He is pictured wearing a blue Stone Island jacket, grey trousers and black trainers.

Detective Constable Sheila Silvagni of Gayfield CID said: "As part of the investigation, we are looking to identify the man in the images. If anyone recognises this distinctive clothing as being worn by someone recently, I would urge them to get in touch with us."
