A £1000 reward has been offered by a businessman for information after a vicious attack on a pet cat.
As reported in Saturday's Evening News, the animal was savagely attacked and killed by two dogs in Livingston.

Now a Midlothian businessman wants to help catch those responsible.

Ron Davidson, 61, of Bilston Glen, said: "If these people can do this to an animal then they can do it to a child.

"I am offering up this reward in the hope that there will be a conviction."

The incident happened just after midnight on Wednesday in the Dedridge area of Livingston.

The cat's owner Scott Buist, 42, was woken from his sleep by the sound of dogs barking outside his family house, where he lives with his wife and daughter.

Two youths were seen running away with the dogs, thought to be a black Staffordshire bull terrier and a white Alsatian.

Mr Davidson, owner of PM Solutions in Bilston Glen, said: "These attackers knew exactly what they were doing and it was absolutely disgusting."

Police are searching for two youths, described as white and about 5ft 8ins. Anyone with information can call 0131-311 3131 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111.

While the offence is horrible and the reward very noble, It is a bit poiintless as no action is ever taken to deal with feral scum like this. See yesterdays story about Bonnyrigg Rose, brats seen at the weekend, but no action taken.

i hope mr davidsons reward encourages someone to get in touch with appropriate authorities and catch the scum who did this, white alsation dogs are quite uncommon so someone MUST KNOW who was involved,as said before, this story has been well documented and hopefully it is only a matter of time before they are caught by police or others concerned with animal cruelty, well done to mr davidson for putting up reward,i really hope they are brought to justice one way or another really soon!

It would be more effective if the £1000 went to someone willing to kick the scum into next year,. That is the only kind of language these a**holes understand and respect

Hope someone puts up the cash to get these creatures neutered.

#6: If they offer to neuter 'em. I'll put up the cash just to stop them peeing in the gene pool. Odds are anyway that they're the result of loops in their family trees.

#6 good idea!
#5 they dont have any!

if they have any sense(which i doubt, given that they are inbred chav scum)they should go and have their dogs put down humanely before the dogs are taken away and destroyed by the authorities(which will happen) and they should think twice about walking around the area probably bragging about it as chavs do,the familys of these scum should be made to pay compensation to the family for the loss of zed the cat and the extreme trauma this has caused

That is just plain SICK! I feel sorry for the family who have lost their beloved pet just cos a couple of mindless ar*e h*les decide to let their dogs attack a cat. I wonder what would happen if one of those dogs attacked a child relative of one of the owners? Justice sucks when it comes to dealing with animal cruelty. Stricter laws should be in place NOW!

Looks as tho the kids and the dogs might be needing a bit of Chlorine in their gene pool! Who would raise a kid to okey an attack like this? Could be a two year old child next.
Good job for putting up the reward. Hope it brings them to the law. And they get rid of the dogs.

The best reward would be able to be allowed to birch the b*astards that committed this evil act! LET THEM FEEL SOME PAIN TOO!!

#12 pity that wont happen, when caught they will be given social workers to "work through their issues" and days out at theme parks, people are getting sick and tired of chavs and scum being feted by social work services and given treats, the families who breed scum like this should be neutered too(they usually breed like rabbits anyway)

This is another reason why cat owners should keep them inside. Many years ago, I had a cat who was mauled to death by two neighborhood dogs. I remember the horror my parents and us kids awoke to . After that , all our cats we kept indoors . They all lived to a ripe old age. The cats I have now are ages 16, 15 , 12 and 9.
I feel for Mr. Buist and hope that they get the savages who allowed the dogs to murder his cat. However, it is doubtful it will happen and even if the kids are caught, not much will happen. Please cat lovers, KEEP YOUR CATS INDOOrs!

#14 i have a large cat who only goes out in my(private)garden, but this should not have happened,i am really sorry for what happened to your cat, i hope the dogs were destroyed!dogs are a lot more volatile than cats and can be unpredictable, the scum who did this should have thier dogs destroyed and they should be put down too

I own a German Shepherd dog (Alsatian?). He's a 6 month old pup. He likes to chase cats, but there is no way in heck that he could ever catch one. Every time me "meets" a cat, he comes running back happy but exhausted. What an effort it must have taken to get the dogs to attack a cat!

elayne,

#16 i used to have an alsation many years ago,he was used to cats as we had 3 cats too,the cats regularly used to scratch him if he came too near, these scum obviously trained the dogs to attack other animals, which means the dogs should be destroyed as should the owners

#19 i truely truely would put some animals lives above some of the scum I have met , absolutely.
You think these scum are worth more than an animal because they are supposedly human.
Get a grip man. you are sadly deluded

Yes, they’re vital for elderly people and rural areas
No, it’ll just be pouring cash down the drain
