TONY McPARLAND believes Livingston have the right recipe for a sustained promotion push and are just lacking a vital ingredient – luck.
The exuberant winger was today arriving at Almondvale expecting a dressing-down from boss Roberto Landi, who ordered his players home after the 3-2 defeat to Dunfermline without speaking to them, fearing he may say something he would regret. But McPa
rland, while backing his manager in his call for new blood, says the current crop of players have it within themselves to turn the season around.
"The defeat was a sore one for us. We had chances but we made a few crucial mistakes which is not like us. But we just need a bit of luck and a win to get us going again, no matter how we get it."
Landi was left bemoaning the threadbare nature of his squad after Murray Davidson picked up a groin injury and was replaced before half-time, while veteran goalkeeper Roddy McKenzie did not appear as the teams came out for the second half after picking up an ankle injury.
Two goals from Andy Kirk, his winner coming in the 89th minute, and a Graham Bayne goal, nicked the points for the Pars, who came from behind after James McPake scored for Livingston in five minutes and were dragged back to 2-2 when Calum Elliot scored his eighth of the campaign for the Lions.
Landi, meanwhile, said: "I knew when I signed the contract it would be difficult. But it is very, very hard to get a performance when we only have 11 players."
