PIERRE MARTINI today revealed he is using French World Cup winner Fabien Barthez as a role model after pulling off another superb save to help the Lions to their third league victory in a row.
Martini, 20, is a massive Marseille fan and hero-worships the legendary shot-stopper. And, although he left France after being released by Nice, Martini believes fate led him to Almondvale.
Livingston were tied at 1-1 with Clyde on Saturday when
Martini tipped over a header from Stuart Kettlewell before Leigh Griffiths scored his sixth goal of the season with five minutes remaining.
The result leaves Livingston just one point behind leaders Dundee and Martini said: "We can challenge for the lead. We have made a good start, but the manager says we have to take it one game at a time. I am from Marseille. My hero was Barthez. Of course, I would love to do what he did, but I have humility and I'll make my journey wherever it takes me.
"I am at Livingston now and this is a great chance for me to play football."
Pat Clarke put the visitors ahead in the 29th minute, but Anthony McParland cancelled that out when he drove home a terrific equaliser from 20 yards ten minutes later.
Meanwhile, Livingston boss Roberto Landi said he won't sign Hearts striker Calum Elliot.
The Italian said: "I want to be 100 per cent sure and I'm not sure about Elliot now. I get offered strikers every day and if there is a good deal we are ready to go for it."
