LIVINGSTON boss Roberto Landi was today singing the praises of rookie goalkeeper Pierre-Antoine Martini after the Frenchman made a spectacular save to ensure victory against Morton at Cappielow on Saturday.
The 20-year-old reacted superbly to deny Brian Wake his second goal of the match just minutes from the end to ensure the three points returned to Almondvale.
"I thought Martini's save was excellent and he showed tremendous spirit," said Landi, a f
ormer goalkeeper. "He has found some things hard, but everyday we have been working with him to improve his technique and he has shown through his hard work that he is eager to learn and has the hunger to succeed.
"There is the language barrier of course, but I am happy with him and the way he conducts himself."
The 2-1 victory was the Lions' fourth in a row with Edinburgh lads Murray Davidson and Leigh Griffiths scoring early on in an eye-catching display.
Davidson opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Griffiths headed on a long ball to Davidson who composed himself before firing the ball into the top corner from 20 yards.
It was 2-0 two minutes later when a poor clearance by Allan McManus fell to Griffiths, who scored from 16 yards.
Griffiths almost made it 3-0 when his header from six yards out flew over the bar.
But Morton pulled a goal back when Wake made up for an earlier miss as he skipped past two defenders and then saw his curling shot go in off the upright.
