LIVINGSTON boss Roberto Landi today backed Rocco Quinn to start finding the net after the midfielder was unlucky not to grab the three points at Airdrie.

Quinn chipped over an open goal from wide on the right after capitalising on Diamonds keeper Stephen Robertson's poor clearance. Victory would have been no more than Livingston deserved after creating a number of good chances, particularly after the
break.

Quinn, who is on loan from Celtic, scored four goals in 20 league appearances for St Johnstone last season but has yet to register in nine outings for Livingston this term but Landi is not overly concerned, pointing out that the player has set up a number of goals this season and works tirelessly and unselfishly for the cause.

Landi said: "Rocco is one of my best players. He can play in every position in midfield – central, right or left. I am very happy with the midfield. We have a great balance with Joe Hamill, Liam Fox and Murray Davidson. They are very strong and it is one of the reasons why the team is playing so well.

"Rocco can also play as an attacking forward in a 4-4-1-1 formation, so he is a very useful and important player for us and he can only get better."

Davidson was perhaps Livingston's best player on the day and he had a fine effort from long range turned round the post by Robertson while Anthony McParland will be kicking himself after blasting a fierce shot wide.

Livingston striker Calum Elliot thought he had scored after 31 minutes only for the linesman to rule the goal out for offside, a similar fate then befalling Airdrie's Simon Lynch.

Landi added: "We played good football and created four or five good chances but failed to take them, but that is football. One point is better than none and, as long as we are close to St Johnstone at this stage of the season, that is good enough for me."
