LIVINGSTON have lost their battle to have teenage strike ace Leigh Griffiths released from the Scotland Under-19 squad so he could play for them on Saturday.
The Lions made a request to the Scottish Football Association to allow Griffiths to fly out and join the rest of the squad in Hungary on Sunday after turning out for Roberto Landi's side against St Johnstone at Almondvale.

But Scotland Under-19 boss Billy Stark said: "It is not about enforcing the rules, but we are travelling out on Saturday.

"It is too big a risk to fly him out the next day. If he was to get injured, we would be down a player. I can see where Livingston are coming from but they are thrilled he has been selected and have been terrific about it."

It means Landi will be without his two recognised strikers as Calum Elliot is suspended.

The Scots face three European Championship qualifying games in Hungary against Azerbaijan, San Marino and Hungary.
