Bill worry for Livingston

SCOTTISH POWER were today sending representatives to Almondvale to demand the immediate payment of debts.
Livingston are said to owe the energy giant £50,000 after not paying bills for eight months.

Scottish Power are one of the club's biggest creditors and if the sum, or part of it, is not paid today then the company will begin the process that will lead to the power supply being cut off.

The Inland Revenue is also reported to be demanding immediate payment of around £100,000 after the First Division club defaulted on its debt repayment plan. The IR could seek a court order to that could see the club put into liquidation.

I take no glory in saying I forecast, in these columns, a month ago that Livi were in the mire over unpaid bills !

Sadly Scottish power and the Inland Revenue are not the only ones owe money and if they don't get their money the other smaller firms, who are waiting to get paid, have absolutely no chance !

It is alleged by many Livi supporters that the person to blame is former owner Pierce Flynn who promised the Livi supporters the earth and the best run club in Scottish football, then walked away leaving a nearly bankrupt club !

It is also possible that in these times of tight money that Livi will not be the only club in the mire.

People like Brooks Mileson and Pierce Flynn have no place in football. The just use it as a vehicle to stroke their own ego's.

They have no real love for the game, its all about them. Teams like Gretna and Livingston should do more checks before allowing people like that into their club.

Mileson should have ended up in jail for what he did to Gretna. He may have taken them on a rolleroater ride but the club with its history also went out of the scottish league as well.

Oh dear what a shame. Made-up club that had it's moment in the sun (at Hibs expense unfortunately).

Let's be positive and hope something can be worked out with the creditors.

After all, there's no real reason to think this can't be done.

I suppose the "News" isn't going to run a story saying that the club owes creditors money but that they are hopeful an agreement on time-to-pay/instalment plan can be reached.

Doom-laden prophesies sell more newspapers, I suppose.

And if the worst does comes to pass, well they can always point to that glorious League Cup triumph...
