POLICE are hunting two men who attacked and robbed a 62-year-old man as he walked to his car in Edinburgh early this morning.
The assault happened at around 1.50am, at the junction of Barony Street and Barony Place.

The victim was walking to his car when he was approached by two men, one of whom punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.

He was then threatened at knifepoint, and robbed of cash. Both suspects then made off down Barony Place.

The first suspect is described as white, 5ft 10ins, slim, 20 to 30, with an Irish accent, and wearing a dark-coloured hooded top.

The second is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall, 20 to 30, and wearing a light-coloured hooded top, and dark trousers.

A police spokesman said: "This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was in the area at the time and noticed any suspicious activity, to contact police immediately.

"Similarly, anyone who recognises the description of the suspects should also get in touch."

Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
