CHEF Jamie Oliver has defended residents in a Yorkshire town after he was accused of making them look like "numpties" and "thickos".
His series, Jamie's Ministry Of Food, featured a mother from Rotherham who fed her children solely on takeaways. He has described residents as "wonderful".

someone who feeds their kids on takeaway food as a staple diet is a thicko. Certainly not clever!

They made themselves look like "numpties" and "thickos". Not even Jamie would attempt to improve on nature.

I respect that he's making everyone talk about the food that we buy, cook and eat and I quite like him ... BUT... if chubby little Jamie Oliver came to the Lothians and said that we were all numbwits when it came to eating and cooking AND if he then set up an event at Easter Road or Tynecastle - I'm sure we would give him the same public abuse as he received at Rotherham, where the crowds were chanting "who ate all the pies" at him.

Karma Curry? or just a few broken eggs?

Even if he did call them thickos it was quite obvious on the programme that a large number of them did not appear to have much of a clue about anything.

What kind of parent must you be to feed your 5 year old kebabs and chips and cheese (as we saw at the beginning of the programme last night).

It is not down to poverty as some may argue, takeaway food is expensive vegetables are cheap. Mr Oliver should be commended for at least trying to save people from their own ignorance.

He's right though, isn't he?

Anyway, enough of that, I'm just off to shove a chippy through the railings of my local primary at the grasping hands of some hungry fat wee chimps who are distressed at the thought having to eat some healthy food.

He was 'accused of making them look like "numpties" and "thickos"' merely by having them appear on camera.

7# Witty but ironic. Wasn't it Rotherham where that fat lump of lard shoved fish and chips through the school railings when the school stopped serving heart attack specials to the kids?
