POP Idol turned actor Gareth Gates says he can't wait to tread the boards at The Playhouse when his touring production of Les Misérables comes to Edinburgh next year.
Gates is due to star as Marius in the 25th anniversary production of the world's longest running musical, produced by leading musical and theatre producer Cameron Mackintosh.

"Performing for someone of Cameron's stature was somewhat nerve-racking," said Gates.

"But it went really well and I got the part.

"I've never played The Playhouse before, but my experience of performing to any Scottish crowd has always been great. I look forward to being back there."

Les Misérables is coming to The Playhouse from 20 April to 15 May 2010. Tickets go on sale on 20 July at 0844 847 1660 or from www.edinburghplayhouse.org.uk
