FALKIRK manager John Hughes acknowledges that much of the success he has enjoyed during his career as both player and manager has been down to the influence of Jim Jefferies and Billy Brown, writes ALAN FAIRLEY.
The former Berwick Rangers and Falkirk duo now form the management team at Kilmarnock, whom the Bairns host tomorrow, and Yogi knows he can expect no favours from his former mentors.

A win for Falkirk could clinch a top-six SPL finish but Hughes said: "I've known Jim and Billy for a long time and I have nothing but respect for them.

"They helped shape my career and I'll always be thankful for their help but I'm expecting no assistance from them tomorrow. Any side which Jim and Billy put together will fight for everything and I'm sure that's the way it will be tomorrow."

Hughes dismissed earlier reports that injured striker Michael Higdon is in line for an early comeback to first-team action.

"Michael still has a bit to go," he said.

"We're pleased with his progress and he's back training but it's too early to expect him to return to competitive action."
