LUKE MITCHELL'S appeal against his murder conviction is set to be filmed by the BBC when the result is announced in court on Friday.
Cameras for the BBC will be allowed inside the High Court building in the Lawnmarket when the result is due to be read out at 10am.

Mitchell, now 19, is trying to overturn his conviction for the murder of his girlfriend Jodi Jones in June 2003, when they were both 14-year-old pupils at St David's High School in Dalkeith.

A full appeal, lasting ten days, has already been heard by the court.

The decision to allow cameras inside the court follows the Nat Fraser hearing earlier this month when the BBC filmed his appeal being quashed.

The 49-year-old businessman from Elgin was jailed for life in 2003 after a jury found him guilty of murdering his wife Arlene in April 1998, despite no body ever being found.

The footage will be streamed live on the BBC website while the broadcaster's satellite news channel may also show live coverage.

Lord Hamilton, the Lord Justice General, will sit with Lord Osborne and Lord Kingarth at Mitchell's hearing.

Have Jodie's family not had to suffer enough? With Mitchell's awful mother parading herself on tv shows with her "story."

Insensitive doesn't even come close.

Many, too many individuals are wrongly convicted on a daily basis in this country. My thoughts are with all those innocent people and their families that have to live with miscarriages of justice.

Just another convicted on Circumstantial Evidence.
Just another who's appeal will be rejected.
Just another Miscarriage nobody cares about.
As long as someone is locked up at the end of the day for this vile crime, nobody cares that he might just be telling the truth.
Nobody cares about the word Justice.
Just look at the appalling lack of evidence in this case.
And look at the evidence pointing to others which is either being ignored or covered up.
Justice is what matters at the end of the day not a lynching by the press

#8 I don't know why you list circumstantial evidence as being a dodgy point here. People seem to have a mistaken view of circumstantial evidence. Sometimes it can be extremely compelling, as it was in Mitchell's case. How you can call this a miscarriage I honestly have no idea. Have you read the trial transcripts? If Donald Findlay couldn't get him off, he's 100% guilty.

circumstantial evidence.

now thats the facts like many cases in the uk that are using it so 3rd party hearsay is enough to send a man down?
dna found that does not relate to the accused now thats a fact.
Donald Findlay couldn't get him off, he's 100% guilty

Mr Findlay's record over the years is so good eh?

Prosecution had
No eye witness
No Forensic Evidence
No DNA Evidence (Of His)
No Weapon

Evidenec used against him

Urine in Bottles
He smoked wacky backy
He listened to Marilion Mansion records
He scetched some dodgy drawings
He wrote some dodgy stories

Is this more likely a case that the police had already decided who did it and didnt bother investifgating anyone else. look at the media coverage it had. The police had no forensics etc they were under pressure and criticism . So they picked on who they had already decided had commited the murder.

He should hang. He's guilty and his mother should be jail with him for perverting the course of justice.

All the posts supporting him are just emo tossers who see as a kind of poster boy.

#12 So you would hang anyone on the evidence in the case?

I dont know if he did it do you?
did he get a fair trial no
retrial him then.

cases of circumstantial evidence are not 100 per cent on the ball.

what you read in a paper and what is real truth is hard to find.

Sadly Justice has come to be regarded as a prize that is awarded to the greater of two advocates in a Court of Law. Justice is more virtuous than that. Justice is the foundation stone on which our Society is built. Justice should reflect the virtues of Honesty, Integrity, Impartiality, Objectivity, Compassion and Mercy. Like the air that we breathe Justice should be free and available to all. Justice is not prejudiced and neither is it bounded by race, colour, gender, the able or the disabled. Justice is our birthright and is an expectancy that we all share.

SO TRUE!

Did Luke Mitchell do it? - Pass - No evidence.
Did Nat Fraser do it? - Pass - No Body, No evidence.
Did the police fabricate evidence just to get a conviction in these cases? - Oh Yes. Without Doubt.

i stay in dalkeith and jodi's murder has haunted this town for the last five years and will continue to do so.luke mithchell is 100% guilty as,is his mother who should be rotting in jail alongside him. if their is a miscarriage of justice it's that she,an accomplice to a murder is still walking free.i pray that the verdict tomorrow will be the same but would be happy to see corrinne mithchell charged with perverting the courts of justice.i just hope jodis family can get some kind of closure and not have to put up with lukes mother's twisted lies that her son is innocent. please lets now move on let luke rot in jail and hope and pray for jodi's family. if anything they deserve to try and rebuild their life.

It's vital for justice to be SEEN to be done. The sooner we have live coverage of major trials , the better.

azz of Dalkeith has it spot on,his mother should be in jail. If it was not him then it could have been his mum either way she knows more than she let on.The courts should not waste time on this inhumain person just let him rot in jail or better still leave him in a room with Jodies family and let them deal with the scum bag oh and throw in the mother for good measure, that way Jodies family will finaly be ride of them............
