Forces pass on military command to US in Iraq

BRITISH forces will mark the beginning of the end of their involvement in Iraq today when they pass military command to the US Army.
The handover represents a major landmark on the road towards the final withdrawal of the 4100 UK troops in Basra.

Since the 2003 invasion, 179 British personnel have lost their lives in Iraq.
