Violina Germendhzhieva, 25, a student living in Haymarket, names her top five pubs in Edinburgh.
Brass Monkey, Drummond Street. I find the service really friendly and I've watched some films on the sofas in the back room which is quite a unique feature. It's a really cosy bar.

Whistle Binkies, South Bridge. I love listening to the bands who play here. It's a great live venue and is often especially good on a Friday night.

The Pear Tree, West Nicolson Street. This is another of my favourite pubs. The beer garden is really lovely too – especially good in the summer sun.

Element, Rose Street. This place is really nice and is a perfect location for a date or to take your boyfriend. It's kind of posh but I like it.

Bannermans, Cowgate. The drinks here are quite reasonable and it's a great place to meet before a night out. It is popular with most of my friends for the same reasons.
