HIBS goalie Grzegorz Szamotulski was reportedly banned from getting on a plane because airport staff said he was too drunk.
Check-in staff at Edinburgh Airport would not allow him on the 5.50am flight to Amsterdam because they feared he could have been a danger to other passengers. He was said to be wobbling on his feet and slurring his speech.
The Polish keeper had to return home to sleep off the effects of a heavy night out after Hibs' draw with Motherwell last Saturday.
An airline source said: "He could barely stand up and was lurching all over the place."
Szamotulski , who signed for Hibs last month, was heading to Gdansk for a week's break.
He said he was surprised when he was told he couldn't fly and claimed it was an over-reaction.
He said: "I was very calm. I didn't make any trouble. I just went back home and waited for the next plane."
