Published Date: 08 May 2008
SAULIUS MIKOLIUNAS could miss the remaining two games of Hearts' season after returning to Lithuania for the birth of his child.
The winger has flown to eastern Europe to be with his wife, who is due to give birth any day, and will not feature against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

The date of the baby's arrival will determine whether he can return in time to face Gretna at Fir Park next Tuesday.

Mikoliunas sustained a minor injury at Falkirk on Monday night which would have rendered him doubtful for this weekend in any case.

But Hearts had already given him permission to return to his homeland.

"He has a slight knock but with his baby due he's gone back to Lithuania," said interim manager Stephen Frail.

"He was always going home and we wish him and his family all the best.

"We decided that, with Miko having the knock, he possibly won't make Tuesday anyway so it makes sense to send him home to be with his wife."

Young striker Gary Glen remains touch and go ahead of the weekend having incurred a calf strain against Falkirk.

"It was a knock on his calf so he is a slight doubt, although we'll give him until the last minute to be ready," said Frail.

"The physio has taken a look at him and the good news is that it's not as bad as first feared.

"It's still a bit early as far as Saturday's game is concerned but he should have a chance of making it which is good given his form recently."

Calum Elliot is also hopeful of shrugging off a back complaint picked up against Falkirk, although Ruben Palazuelos' booking in that match will see him miss the opening match of next season after he broke the SFA's disciplinary points threshold.

Frail, meantime, has told his squad that he will not accept second best again against Kilmarnock.

He stressed that Falkirk showed more hunger during their 2-1 victory on Monday and, with just two games remaining before the curtain falls on a disappointing campaign, he wants to see Hearts end the season on a high note.

He said: "I'm looking for a big improvement from the players on Saturday.

"Falkirk had more desire to win the match on Monday and that was disappointing and something we will have to address at the weekend."

Frail will use Hearts' two remaining league matches and Robbie Neilson's testimonial on Sunday to give certain fringe and younger players some vital game time at first-team level.

"It's a good opportunity with us having two games this weekend.

"The ones who we think are good enough and capable of making an impact with the first team will get a chance.

"It's important we put these players in at the right time.

"On Tuesday we have Gretna, which is our last game of the season, so that gives us a few possibilities over the next few days to try out some players."

First thing...

All the best Miko

Second things..

Frail, do you honetly think that the players give a tom tit what you say to them ?

So far you have told the squad...

Must win games
Will no let the players switch off
Holidays will not start early

All the above have been ignored, and not just once.....

I REALLY hate it when Frail opens his mouth in the press.

Can I suggest that if anyone else has tired of the disturbing rants of he who should not be named that they speak to the very helpfull and sympathetic to the situation Ewan McGroary (unsure of spelling) at the Edinburgh evening News.

His behaviour was hithertoo unknown to anyone above the moderating staff but he is now aware.

What will he do about it ?
He has accepted players showing him no regard or respect all season

Cant really see the players starting to listen now
He has lost it and i am sick of his nonsense

His form has definitely improved over the last few months - clearly his happiness at his impending fatherhood has outweighed any concerns in his mind at the pathetic abuse from the Tartan Army losers in recent months.

if they do insist on installing one though they could get Barasa and Bennie to do the labouring.

Sorry rambo, was unable to get any solid promises but he said that he was going straight to the moderators after our lengthy phone call to discuss the matter. he seemed genuinely to be unaware of the level of the abuse that was taking place and so is going to go over some of the old comments and discuss further action.

I discussed the possibility of action being taken using his IP adress and this is something they seem to be looking at but he confesses this is a difficult route to take.

A word with the offenders employers (if he has any) would be the most likely way to stop his inane and insulting rambling.

just keep the paper informed of your disgust at his behaviour. before i got through to Ewan McGroary i spoke to the the Managing Director at Johnston Press and then the Editors PA before finaly speaking to someone who seems to be in a position to take action.

These three phone numbers are easily available through directory enquiries but i have a note of them and could let you know them perhaps by private email or something if the paper was to frown on me posting them on the thread.

Disagree completely.

Through his actions the humour and decent debate is lost and it just becomes all about him. The story is abandoned and then normal people get booted off because they dare to reply to his inane, insulting witterings.

unlike this guy i refuse to keep opening email acounts only to be booted off at his request. unlike him I am not sad enough to spend all day opening new acounts because the moderator decides to remove me at his request without even reading my post to check and see if it falls under the list of things deemed offensive.

errrrr Victor...... I think I hear your mum calling you in as its got so hot today you've obviously had a wee funny turn...

Hearts will finish 7th & Hibs can only finish at worst 6th you fool. Points at the end of the season between 6th & 7th are now irrelevant....

When will you realise that Hearts may (unlikely) acrue more points than Hibs on the basis that your last 5 games are against Falkirk (haha), Gretna, St. Mirren etc... Us in the top 6 have to play proper teams like Rangers & Celtic and these teams are invariably more difficult to beat.

Why dont you go and have a read through the SPL rule book if you require any further elucidation??

Once again I state for the benifit of the Hearts fans who either missed it the first 100 times or are to thick to grasp this...

"Hibs have had a very poor season in terms of results, Hearts season has been nothing short of shocking. Hibs having a very poor season = still challenging for Europe with two games to go, Hearts having a very poor season = bottom 6 trash", Do the math Victor & The Haullicinst.... Any way youslice it Hibs are poor but still a damm sight better than your mob..... Come into the real world and deal with it....

What would you like to talk about then fella'?...

Did you know that the polar bear only evolved from the brown bear less than 250, 000 years ago?

As the morning gathers a rainbow...

#87 Ah, so is that why Miko's the only Hearts player who hasn't had a severe enough injury ot have to spend 2 months at home getting specialist surgery? Cos Vlad's been playing Doctors and Nurses with Mrs Miko?
That would explain a lot.

We'll just have to see if the baby has applied for planning permission to build a hotel in Mrs Mikos womb just before he moves out...

94 actually its the official edinburgh zoo site. Very interesting facts to be found! Edinburgh zoo is apparently the only one in the UK to house a polar bear!!

shame actually as it's pal was driven mental with boredom and put down and the survivor shows a lot of signs of problems too due to lack of space... Shouldn't keep polar bears in zoos.

Polar bears walk backwards when bored... Please keep serg' away from the zoo or the other will be mad aswell.

My interesting Polar Bear fact- Polar Bear was the original name of popular indie rockers Snow Patrol.
And their first album was called "Songs for Polarbears". It had a song called "Get Balsmaic Vinegar.... Quick You Fool" on it. That was pretty much the only redeeming feature, the whole thing was rubbish.

Zoology I'm completed stuffed on, but poor mid-nineties indie? Hey, forget about it!

There was a time when I would have said good ridance and don't come back. However he is back to playing well and will be missed. Good luck with the family Miko.

Charlie? George?

Finlay had a junk problem allegedly and joined Paula Yates on her downward spiral, Maverick Astrike was a good album but i dont think he ever resurfaced.

Charlatans definitely one of the best live bands in my opinion, the crowd (although tending to be a little older now!) always goes mental. What album was Polar Bear off again?
