A RANGE of initiatives to help smokers kick the habit were taking place across Lothian to mark No Smoking Day.
All four Community Health Partnerships in the region were holding stop smoking advice sessions and roadshows in many venues.

In West Lothian, 15,000 leaflets have been delivered to advertise the No Smoking Day Challenge – which aims to see 250,000 Scots pack in smoking. And the East Lothian CHP launched a new Smokefree Homes Initiative and their new website at www.stopsmokingeastlothian.co.uk.

Dr Alison McCallum, NHS Lothian's director of public health, said: "These activities show NHS Lothian's determination to help people stop smoking so that we can all enjoy better health."

#1, Petrol Man.
Here's another one for the self denialist par excellence.
"In engage mouth brain gear opening before."
Why does his third word have a zero in the middle?
Keying problem, maybe?

#3:

People get lung cancer from causes other than tobacco smoke. In recent times, lung cancer, heart disease, emphasema etc, etc have all been banded together under the generic heading of "smoking related diseases" which only serves to mislead. there are many causes of those diseases and only one of them happens to be tobacco smoke.

Is this going to be yet another day when we have to suffer brain-dead, unthinking, repeaters of propaganda or are we actually going to start thinking for once?

I see the troll is back, which is never a good sign if one is after reasoned debate.

You wouldnt know reasoned debated if it slammed you in the face.
Smoking is a prime cause of lung cancer ( yes it occurs from other uses )
If people want to stop and this Lothian help group want to help, why do you tell them to " Face your s0dding shut"
If you want to smoke fine, but if people want help let them.
You havent a clue from a while ago, your last comment was you never want to try and change laws or force issues, you obviously dont want people who need aor want help to get it.
Sort of like a dictator, hardly reasonable debate, oh sorry you ARE A TROLL. Now i understand

Any laws relating to health petrol and laws you disagree with you always give you drivel.
You probably cycle everywhere on your cycle with stablilisers

#4, Chief of the Trolls.
Troll Dolls still in local shop windows. Am sure "Bride Troll" not his thing, but perhaps "Elf Troll" more relevant.
As Cappo del Monte asks, what's Troll Doll's big problem with some people possibly ecaping his addiction? Hope Troll Doll's stabilisers firmly attached, otherwise he might just lose his sense of direction.

Less than four hours to go, but then any day can be a no smoking day, really.
Reasoned debate? Go on, he's having us on, surely.

Ghost Of Scotland Past,

Academic now that darling little man in the commons has
upped the price of 20 by 11 pence. My favourite smoke has already increased by 12p in the past two weeks so now they will bring the price down and make out they are absorbing the increased tax. This is where it stops for me. I will be using my electronic ciggie to maintain my nasty little addiction and get my nicotine fix when and where I please without forking out to contribute to the exchequers extortion and the tobacco barons profiteering. Totalally legally and without having to tolerate the bigotry and discrimination of the likes of the sanctimoneous wee davie frae new mills.

I must congratulate wee GOSP on his self satisfaction in avoiding tobacco duty by puffing away on his electronic nicotine inhaler. Long may he legally be able to satisfy his addiction, or at least for as long as he still has some gasp left in his wee lungs.

#1 Benzin Kopf - "Face your s0dding shut" - Not really a sign that "one is after reasoned debate". Since the article is about helping smokers to stop smoking (and you evidently do not fall into this category), why bother with such riduculous comments? Surely you do not object to people being given help to stop smoking.

#10,James Donald,Newbridge.
James should surely realise by now that the concept of reasoned debate is alien to Petrol Man. Whilst we all have our prejusices and agendas, including those on the "non-smokes" side of the debate, most on this side do not advocate that their opponents should shut up and go away. Perhaps M. Tête à l'essence will mature sufficiently one day to be able to put up constructive arguments.
