AN Edinburgh doctor has been suspended for nine months following a drinking and driving conviction.
A General Medical Council hearing found Dr Donald MacLeod’s fitness to practice had been impaired during the hearing in Manchester.

He was almost four times over the legal limit when stopped by police in Crewe Road South last year. He was convicted of driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance, at Edinburgh Sheriff Court . He was fined a total of £1100 and disqualified from driving for four years.

NHS Lothian was waiting on formal confirmation of the verdict from the GMC before deciding whether to take further action.
