CONTROVERSIAL MP George Galloway has been signed up to present a show on Edinburgh radio station talk107.
The Respect Party MP for Bethnal Green and Bow in London will come to Edinburgh this weekend to present the first of the live Saturday and Sunday night slots.

He is the highest-profile presenter the station has brought on board since it launched
earlier this year

The programme, which the maverick MP also presents on talk107's sister station talkSport, will focus on national politics and local issues, and the outspoken Big Brother star is expected to provoke fierce debate.

Mr Galloway, 51, has just returned from a visit to Cuba, where he appeared on national television with President Fidel Castro. He is familiar with performances in the Capital, having brought his one-man show here last year for the Festival.

Mr Galloway said: "My show on talkSport has started to get quite a big cult following, and talk107 asked if I'd like to do the show from Edinburgh, so I'm coming up this weekend.

"I'm sure there will be some lively calls. It doesn't seem to matter what topic I put on the show's title, people always want to talk about getting Tony Blair out of power, the illegal invasion of Iraq and casualty figures from there.

"But I will talk about any political issue, and we had a lively debate last week about Jack McConnell and his asinine comment that he will not be supporting the English at the World Cup, which I think a lot of English people found quite offensive."

Talk107 station manger Peter Gillespie said: "We were aware of Mr Galloway's show on talkSport, and with him being from the east of Scotland we thought it would be something which would be of great interest to our listeners."
