KATE GILMORE, 28, from Newhaven, is marketing manager at Business Stream.
What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh? I remember as a child my dad, a university professor, used to bring me to the Edinburgh International Science Festival every year.

What are your memories of school? My family spent a couple of years
in Orsay, northern Paris, and it was here I started my school life at the local Matinele. My first teacher was an artist and my class spent many happy hours working on our Impressionist creations.

Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why? The Aquatic Rooms on Leith Walk is a great place as I love my tropical fish. I am always on the lookout for new, interesting and rare fish. I can happily spend an hour browsing and watching the fish.

What are the best things about Edinburgh? Edinburgh is a fantastic city. I love the diversity of the people and cultures, the restaurants and finally its size.

What would you change about the city? I would focus on having fewer road works and fewer potholes. I know these two are probably a contradiction but both frustrate me.

Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out. It would be a beautiful sunny day spent having lunch at Centrotre on George Street followed by a relaxing afternoon in Princes Street Gardens.

Which sports interest you? I love football and skiing. I am an Aberdeen fan so enjoy, (although that isn't always the correct word) going to watch them play, both at home and away.

What was your most embarrassing moment? About four years ago I cut my thumb badly doing some dodgy DIY. Having to explain my stupidity for the next six months when I couldn't type was very embarrassing.

What is your greatest achievement? Launching the new Business Stream brand last November.

Sum up Edinburgh in three words. Beautiful, fun, friendly.
