Art College makes old boy Demarco a fellow
ARTS impresario Richard Demarco will today follow in the footsteps of artist Eduardo Paolozzi and singer Annie Lennox when he is made an honorary fellow of Edinburgh College of Art.
Professor Demarco, who is a former student at the college, will receive his honour alongside Edinburgh University's Professor Vicki Bruce.
The college's principal Ian Howard said: "We are delighted to award honorary fellowships to Ricky and Vicki, both of whom have distinguished records of achievement, albeit in different fields, and both of whom have been true friends of the college."
Professor Demarco, who promotes the arts across Europe, said: "From the minute I walked through the doors of Edinburgh College of Art in 1949 to deliver my portfolio, the college has played an incredibly important part in my life.
"It gave me many friends and it is where I met my wife, Anne. Wonderful teachers and fellow students opened my eyes to the wonders of theatre, music and architecture as well as art and design."
