What is it? Fruit Acid Manicure (£50 for 70 minutes)
Where? Cowshed Spa, Escape Health & Fitness, The Scotsman Hotel, 20 North Bridge, 0131-622 3800

What happens? This deluxe treatment begins with a hand analysis before you are treated to an indulgent exfoliation to
soften skin and cuticles. Then a SkinCeuticals fruit acid peel is applied to refine the texture of the hands even more. Afterwards, the therapist applies an intensive hand cream and massages the area up to the elbow for ten minutes, then cuticle work, file and polish to finish.

Was it worth it? "It was amazing," revealed our tester. "Without a doubt the best I've ever tried. The whole experience was so indulgent, relaxing and the result was incredible – my skin has never looked so good and the polish was very professional.

"I loved the fact that they offered a fruit acid peel as it's really anti-ageing and it meant that my skin looked refreshed, refined and radiant afterwards.

"Later, I relaxed with a fresh juice in their relaxation room and waited for my polish to dry, reading books and chilling out. I'd definitely recommend it."
