SCOTT ARFIELD'S last minute winner against Hearts finally gave Falkirk their first league points of the season.
The result lifted the Bairns from the foot of the SPL table and, according to manager John Hughes, will now give the team a springboard from which they can recapture the form of last season when they came agonisingly close to securing a top six spot.

"This result will settle us down now and help us get back to playing the style of football which we want to play," said Yogi. "There was never any panic because we hadn't got nay points on the board and Saturday's game didn't fall into the 'must win' category as there's a long way to go. But we earned the points, even though I acknowledge that Hearts are a better footballing side."

Hughes paid particular tribute to two of the elder statesmen in his team, Neil McCann, who opened the scoring against his old club on what was his Falkirk debut, and Jackie McNamara, who strolled through the 90 minutes with ease.

"I was delighted with Neil's performance," continued Hughes, "Jackie was superb as well, just as he has been all season.

"He's without doubt been our most consistent player in recent times and is, like Neil, a consummate professional."
