THE husband of the prominent businesswoman who chose to take her own life at a Swiss suicide clinic has said that he fully supported her decision.
Major Robert Rivers-Bulkeley, 94, whose wife Elisabeth ended her life at the Dignitas clinic in Zurich in December, said she had been "determined" to carry out her final wish.

Major Rivers-Bulkeley, who retired with his wife to a house in the grounds of Gosford House in Aberlady eight years ago, said: "She had been dying of cancer for about a year and couldn't stand it any longer. She was prepared to face death and thought it was very unfair on the family to have her slowly dying.

"She was determined to do it. I would have done the same."

The terminally-ill 82-year-old, who pioneered the right of women to join the London Stock Exchange before becoming a financial columnist, was reportedly a member of Friends at the End - a society promoting "end-of-life" choices.
