JOE LEDLEY could tomorrow find himself face to face with a Cyprus star who almost joined Cardiff in the summer.
In fact, 26-year-old midfielder Constantinos Charalambides even went on a pre-season tour with Ledley and Cardiff as the south Wales club ran the rule over him.
Charalambides eventually joined German side Carl Zeiss Jena but he left a good impression on Ledley, and now the pair could meet up in the Euro 2008 qualifier at the GSP stadium here.
Midfielder Ledley said: "He looked a decent player when he was on trial in the close season.
"He went with us to Portugal and was a nice lad and it seemed to me he had done enough to win a contract with Cardiff.
"I don't know why it didn't happen, but we had just bought Trevor Sinclair and we also had Paul Parry, and maybe they were unsure whether he would adapt to English football."
Ledley and Wales now must hope Charalambides does not repeat his scoring habit, having netted here against the Republic of Ireland in Cyprus' 5-2 win last October.
