Chimp trail opens at Zoo

THE world's largest chimpanzee enclosure officially opened to the public today.
The Budongo Trail at Edinburgh Zoo aims to recreate the creatures' natural habitat and is closely linked to a research programme in a Ugandan forest.

As the News revealed during an exclusive preview last month, it has three living "pods", which provide varying degrees of humidity, light and temperature for up to 40 apes. These are designed to recreate the forest canopy and vegetation for nesting.

so in their natural habitat these particular chimpanzees never stray beyond an area bigger than Edinburgh zoo
