EDINBURGH lock Craig Hamilton will travel to Argentina with the Scotland rugby squad this weekend.
He and fellow second-rower Ally Kellock, the Glasgow Warriors captain, will fly out ahead of Scotland's two June Test matches.
Hamilton, 28, who has also had spells with Glasgow and Borders since returning north from Newcastle Falcons in 2005, has
been given the chance to force himself into coach Frank Hadden's plans.
He was last capped against New Zealand three years ago.
Hadden said today: "Craig will travel with us and, depending on the results from France at the weekend, will either stay with us in the national squad or join up with the Scotland A squad in Canada for the Barclays Churchill Cup.
"Craig has been the consummate professional in this situation and I thank him for his first-class response."
Scott Murray has been told by his club Montauban, who play against Clermont Auvergne in the French championship tomorrow night, that, if they win, he may be released for the tour.
If that happens, Hamilton is likely to move on to the A squad.
Kellock, 26, has recovered from knee surgery and played a full part in all Scotland training this week. He is keen to add to his last Scotland outing, last year's Calcutta Cup match at Twickenham, which was his 14th cap.
Hadden added: "I'm delighted with the contribution Al and Craig have made this week. Both are fit and raring to go. Al is now added to the tour squad."
Scotland play Argentina on Saturday, June 7 in Rosario and seven days later in Buenos Aires.
