A FORMER patient has handed over a cheque for £8368 to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary vascular research fund.
David Johnston, 62, was successfully treated at the hospital after being diagnosed with thoraco-abdominal aortic aneurysm three years ago.

After his operation and two weeks in intensive care, he left hospital and organised various charity events, including a 73-mile walk from Fort William to Inverness, which was undertaken by 12 people and raised more than £2000.

Rod Chalmers, vascular consultant at the ERI, said staff were "somewhat overwhelmed".
