Stand up for the Military Tattoo

WORK has begun erecting the grandstands for the 2008 Edinburgh Military Tattoo on the Castle Esplanade.
The ageing stands, which date from 1975, are set to be replaced with newer seating, at a cost of up to £10 million.

The iconic event was hit by slower ticket sales this year, with organisers blaming the US economic slump for fewer American visitors.

This year's Tattoo, which runs from August 1-28, will feature the massed bands of the Royal Marines, the King's Guards Band of Norway and the famed Royal Regiment of Scotland.

'the FAMED Royal Regiment of Scotland' - should that not read the INFAMOUS Royal Regiment of Scotland?

What happened to the Band of The Black Watch, The Royal Scots, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, The Kings Own Scottish Borderers, The Royal Highland Fusiliers and The Highlanders?

Oh yes - they were replaced by a homogenised U.S. style platoon that nobody really wanted.

I suppose the tatoo will have to fill up with overseas bands as we now have 5 less Scottish bands thanks to the cowardly Army chiefs in Scotland and the Labour party!!

Advice to U.S. tourists - Save your money and buy a DVD instead fro years gone.

Agree,100%,IT NO LONGER IS A MILITARY TATTOO,THE MAN WHO NOW PRODUCES IT WAS GIVEN THE JOB AS AN ENHANCEMENT FOR KILLING OFF THE REGIMENTS,MILITARY BANDS,PIPES AND DRUMS,IT IS NOW A CIVILIAN SHOW,THE MILITARY SHOULD NOW WITHDRAW,STOP ACCOMODATING THEM IN REDFORD BKS,STOP ADMINISTERING THEM AND TAKE THEM OUT OF THE CASTLE TO A MORE CIVILIAN TYPE OF BACKGROUND.
JUST ANOTHER HUGE PROBLEM THAT THE MOD,GENERALS AND LABOUR PARTY DONE WHEN THEY SHREDDED OUR ARMED FORCES.

And guess what,the man that runs the tattoo ,was the man who pushed through the demise of the Scottish regiments,axing military bands and pipes and drums.He was the GOC SCOTLAND then and was enhanced by getting the tattoo job,We dont see anything in his CV saying that he can run a tattoo.
I have said all along take the tattoo out of the castle,take the word military out of the title as it is nothing like the original tattoo and stop using the military as cheap labour to run the show and do not accomodate them in Redford Bks
