HOLYROOD'S former presiding officer George Reid has been appointed as a new non-executive director of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
The 68-year-old politician, who retired as presiding officer of the Scottish Parliament in May 2007, was announced by Tattoo chiefs today as the latest addition to their board of directors.

He joins Shonaig Macpherson, the first female chair of the National Trust for Scotland, and Major General Mark Strudwick, the chief executive of the Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust, who have also been appointed as non-executive directors for the event.

Tattoo chiefs have also appointed Andrew Dewar-Durie as the new vice chairman of the Tattoo Board.

Edinburgh Tattoo chairman and Lord Provost, George Grubb said: "The board are delighted that George, Shonaig and Mark have brought their undoubted skills to the Tattoo."

Nice wee job for the boys.

A nice financial reward/reward of favours for the hoi polloi.

Isn't that the benefit of having our Parliamentary circus. They don't have to achieve anything, don't have to be accountable, but the perks are braw.
