RICKY GERVAIS is to perform in Edinburgh this summer with tickets going on sale today.
The world-famous comedian will take to the stage at the Playhouse on Tuesday, August 25 for a one-night only show as part of the Fringe Festival.

The Emmy, Golden Globe and BAFTA Award-winning creator of The Office and Extras will bring his brand new stand-up show Science to the Capital for what is set to be a sell-out event.

Playhouse general manager James Haworth said: "It is a great honour to welcome Ricky back to the Playhouse for what will undoubtedly be one of the major shows of this year's festival."

The last time Ricky Gervais played the city was in August 2008 when he sold out Edinburgh Castle.

Tickets for August's performance are priced £15/£30 and are available from the Playhouse box office, online at www.edinburgh playhouse.org.uk or by calling 0844-847 1660.

#1 & 4 :

I've thought that way for a long time. There are far funnier and more likeable comics out there. It's a case of the emperor's new clothes with RG as he's the BBC's darling and a mate of Wossie. He got lucky with some writing on a sitcom now everyone thinks he's God. Bring back Emo Philips, Alexei Sayle, Stephen Wright etc. All better than Gervais

Ricky Gervais is great, the podcasts with Steve and Karl are amazing, and as a stand up he is one of the most clever, witty comedians going.

elayne, if you don't like him, why spend ages commenting about him? I suspect you just like to moan.

Let him go head to head with Jerry Sadowitz for maybe 10 minutes - Gervais would be tapping out after that.

Famous on the back of yet another UK 'comedy' that no one had the balls to slag - ditto 3 Pints, Gavin & Stacey etc etc
