IAIN BOWIE has been handed a challenge after re-signing for ambitious Edinburgh Capitals for a third season.
The Fife-born Great Britain youth international has been told to up his game.
But Capitals director of coaching Doug Christiansen believes that Bowie can be a key man in the club's bid to climb the table.
Bowie, 18, enjoyed a successful spell w
ith Great Britain, where the topped the scoring charts with 12 goals and four assists at the IIHF World under-18 Championship in Estonia.
Christiansen, who led the Murrayfield men to eighth place in the ten-strong Elite League, and into the semi-finals of a national competition for the first time, said: "Iain is an extremely talented young player. He developed a lot last season and evidence of that was his leading the Great Britain under-18 team in goals at the recent World Championships.
"I have very high expectations for Iain as a player and as a person. As he matures he will only get better."
Christiansen added: "Iain has proven that he can dominate players of his own age. He now has the challenge of doing it against men.
"I look for Iain to have an increased role on the team. He is a very hard-working competitive player and I have no doubt that Iain will score some big goals for us this season."
