Student is furnished with prize
A BUDDING designer has won a national competition to have her furniture sold in Dwell stores across the UK.
Napier University student Kimberly Whitelaw, 23, won the judges' hearts with her Comfortable design – a coffee table with a sliding cushioned footrest.
Ms Whitelaw, who is in the final year of her multidisciplinary design course, beat hundreds of entrants to win the Design for Dwell competition.
She said: "I am delighted my design has been chosen and really looking forward to seeing my final design displayed in Dwell shops. Knowing that it will be in homes around the UK is very exciting."
Will Titley, lecturer in design at Napier, said:
"We are very proud of the 30-plus students who took part from Napier.
"They performed superbly against a host of institutions across the country.
"There were a variety of different ideas emanating from our studios, ranging from garden furniture to leather chairs."
Ms Whitelaw's prize includes £1000, a trip to Milan for two and a copy of her winning design.
