A SHERIFF has paid tribute to a teenager's courage after he was stabbed while trying to protect a younger boy.
Sheriff Kenneth Maciver praised the 15-year-old while jailing his attacker for four-and-a-half years at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.
George More, 26, a prisoner in Saughton Prison, had previously pleaded guilty to stabbing the teenager to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement on March 26 in Saughton Park.
Fiscal depute Neil Allan said More had stabbed the youngster after picking on a smaller boy in a group he had approached for a light for his cigarette. Defence agent Angus McLennan said More had been drinking and had little recollection of the incident.
