AN Indian restaurant chain is set to open its first outlet in Edinburgh.
Munir Mohammed has bought the former Oxygen Bar site on Infirmary Street and plans to open the first Capital branch of his Mother India Cafe there within the next few weeks.
Mother India launched its first outlet in Glasgow in 1995 and operates from four sites in the city.
The sale of the building was handled by Christie and Co, which has also announced they had helped the Olive Branch secure a third branch in Edinburgh.
The off-market deal saw the company, which already runs two popular bistros in Broughton Street and Bruntsfield, buy the former Herbe Bistro on George IV Bridge.
Alan Goldie, associate director of Christie and Co's Edinburgh office, said: "Mother India is due to open towards the end of May."
