AN environmental organisation has struck a deal for its members with the City Car Club.
Those involved with Greener Leith will now be able to get a 30 per cent discount on the joining fee with the club.

As well as fitting with the organisation's environmental agenda, it is hoped the initiative will encourage more members to join Greener Leith, which is responsible for numerous schemes and projects in and around the Leith area.

It costs £5 a year to be a member of Greener Leith, with the car club discount amounting to around £50.

mm.. they are the ones bashing one about how great the trams are, or the busses!

As i said before, cars are the only real way to travel around this city. Busses are for poor people, who now claim to be green to try and neagte that fact!

I'm surprised that this City Car Club is still going.

Who want's to get in a car right after some flatulant, unwashed tofu-eater?

Finbarr: you're talking a load of rubbish... Car club has expanded massively, and members aren't at all like your ill-informed stereotype. We're just ordinary folk who've shown a bit more intelligence than the likes of you and 'allknowing' and realised we can use a car when we really have to safe in the knowledge it will be less than three years old, maintained and looked after by someone else, we'll have guaranteed parking space to return it to, and all for a tiny fraction of the cost of owning our own car.

To be perfectly frank, who would want to live in the same city as a turgid waste-of-space like you? Perhaps you should leave Edinburgh to sensible types who appreciate this fantastic city?

I would join the City Car Club if they had a decent fleet of vehicles such as Nissan Navarras or Hummers. What's the point in driving around town in a glorified hair dryer?

From a poster advertising the City Car Club, seen on a bus last week:

"Whats your car doing while your on the bus?"

My point is the two spelling and punctuation errors - can't you see them?

Carclubs are a fine idea. It would also be timely to introduce higher parking charges in Leith.
