PROSTRAKAN, the Scottish pharmaceutical firm, said the first half of this year has been one of the most active and successful periods in its history.
The Borders firm has seen revenues rise by 26 per cent to £26.4 million, while gross profits increased by 16 per cent to £16m.
Though it still made an operating loss, it managed to cut its deficit by 13 per cent to £7.6m.
The improved performance was helped by strong growth of its leading products; Tostran, Rectogesic, Adcal D3 and Xomolix.
Dr Wilson Totten, chief executive of the Galashiels-based firm, said: "The first half of 2008 has seen one of the most active and successful periods in ProStrakan's history as we continued to roll out our growth strategy.
"It is tangible evidence of our strategic progress."
