GOOGLE has launched its own web browser to challenge Microsoft's Internet Explorer and ensure easy access to its search engine.
The free browser, called Chrome, was due to be available for downloading today in more than 100 countries for computers running on Microsoft's Windows operating system.
The California-based company is still working on versions compatible with Apple Mac computers and the Linux operating system.
Internet Explorer is used by about 75 per cent of web surfers.
