THE Restaurant Group – owners of the Chiquito, Frankie & Benny's and Garfunkels chains – has reported like-for-like sales growth despite the economic downturn.
In a statement released today, the group, which also owns The Filling Station, revealed an increase of 1.5 per cent for the 52 weeks to December 2008. This compares to the 2.5 per cent for the 45 weeks to November 9, announced late last year. Executives described the situation as being a "creditable performance" resulting from the company's "distinctive" market position and "value for money" offerings.

The group owns 345 restaurants and pubs, including Chiquito on Frederick Street, Frankie and Benny's in the Omni Centre and in South Queensferry and Garfunkels on the High Street.
