UP TO 200 branches of PC World and Currys are expected to be axed as part of owner DSG International's new strategy.
The company's recently-appointed chief executive John Browett is expected to announce the closures, which will lead to a wave of job cuts, later this week.

It is expected Scotland, which has 11 PC World stores and 26 Currys branches, will be hard hit.

There are PC World branches at Corstorphine and Kinnaird Park, while Currys has outlets at Craigleith Retail Park, Kinnaird Park and Hermiston Gait.

The firm also has a large presence across Europe, as well as the internet-only brand Dixons.

Mr Browett wants to get the company back on track after a series of poor results and is to unveil his strategy on Thursday.
