THE head of technology giant Microsoft's operations in Scotland has been appointed to chair a body representing Scottish directors.
The Institute of Directors has appointed Raymond O'Hare, director of Edinburgh-based Microsoft Scotland, to succeed Andy Sturgess of PricewaterhouseCoopers in the role.
He will bring 26 years of working in information technology in Scotland and Ir
eland to the organisation. Among his posts have been senior management positions at Digital, ICL and Nixdorf.
Mr O'Hare is also a board member of Scotland IS and sits on the executive council of the Scottish Council for Development in Industry.
He has also served on the IoD's Executive Council and is a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of the University of Glasgow Business School.
David Watt, executive director of IoD Scotland, which provides help, support and guidance for directors, said: "We are delighted to have someone with Raymond's stature, experience and enthusiasm taking on this role. It is a testament to the credentials of the IoD in Scotland that we have a key executive from the world's biggest corporation as our chairman.
