A NEW fund has been launched that will try to help struggling firms in the Lothians that have been hit by the credit crunch.
The £1.5 million fund has been set up by DSL Business Finance, which has previously given £5m of loans to more than 500 firms in Glasgow and west central Scotland in the last 15 years.

It will help small and start-up firms in Edinburgh and the Lothians that are unable to get cash from the bank by allowing them to apply for loans of up to £50,000.

Eunice Lancaster, general manger of DSL, said the company's previous work has helped to create 86 full-time jobs and up to 179 full-time equivalent jobs in west central Scotland.

She said: "Many Edinburgh firms may be struggling due to the global credit crunch and could go to the wall unless they get investment quickly."
