SCOTTISH technology and commercialisation investor Braveheart, has ploughed £180,000 into University of Strathclyde software spin-out AppShare.
The round of funding, the eighth investment it has made from its Alpha EIS Fund, follows its backing of Livingston-based Elonics and Edinburgh's Pyreos.

AppShare, which was formed just last year, is looking to carve a strong presence for its ePlace platform in a market estimated to be worth £1.1 billion now and up to £1.4bn by the end of 2010.

AppShare's ePlace technology allows the secure sharing of software applications between users at different locations.

Stephen Behan, chief executive at AppShare, said: "The support of Braveheart ... has come as a considerable fillip to us as we look to further develop and commercialise ePlace."
