A couple who jumped into a fast-flowing river to rescue their dogs were swept to their deaths, police said today.
Laura Frey, 30, died in hospital after being pulled out of the River Garnock in Kilwinning, Ayrshire, yesterday.

A body believed to be her partner, Darren Greenan, 33, who also went into the water after their pets, was recovered this morning.

The couple had been walking along the bank with their baby daughter in a pram.
