TWO Capital-based Commonwealth Games boxing medal winners will re-launch the new Sparta amateur boxing club on Saturday, writes BRIAN DONALD.
John Wilson, who won light-heavyweight silver in Victoria, Canada, in 1994, will spar six rounds with 2006 Melbourne light-heavyweight gold medallist Kenny Anderson at the club's new Baileyfield gym in Portobello.

Sparta coach Wilson said: "I was a Sparta boxer for ten years from childhood until my teens so I'm delighted to be leading the new Sparta club's comeback."

Current professional star Anderson, who is preparing for a Celtic title bout with Glenrothes champion Steve McGuire next month, said: "We'll have a fast, open sparring session to which members of the public are invited and I hope that local fight fans of all ages will come along to see us and see the club's great new gym."

FANS wishing to attend Saturday's re-launch can find the new Sparta club gym in Baileyfield Industrial Estate, Portobello. The sparring action starts at noon.
