The Fatal Accident Inquiry system has been a shamble for years, with Fiscals mostly left on their own to decide what to do, and when stood against some rather lazy procedures of evidence gathering, investigation of cases, and an overall lack of accountability to anyone of their work, the Crown Office has gotten away with years for canning the prospect of FAIs on many cases - perceived either rightly or wrongly by the public as a cover up culture.
It's good to see Christine Grahame's efforts in this area and with Mr MacAskill's department knowing of many such cases as Ms Grahame refers to, it's certainly long past time to reform the FAI system, make it much more accountable and transparent to the families of victims who spend many years seeking justice in a culture of injustice.
FACs should be taken off the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal's Service as they are very poor - Health and Safety Executive should do it
Incidentally what about someone from Strathlcyde POlice stealing £170,000 from eh , well , er um , ah yes Strathclyde police - and who is investigating the crime -Strathclyde Police of course- you couldn't make it up
Just do ya all be thinking now that Uncle Sam will be sending any details you need to these new inquiries
