Harald chokes on his muesli and realises world domination could be a bit trickier than first anticipated.

GREEN SPACES
What are the real motives of the politicians who allow developments like Meggetland to proceed?
The developers must now be drooling at the prospect of acquiring the Sick Kids hospital building.

Be aware - be very aware Dr. Dryburgh!

Talking sense like you have done is quite correct - but not fair against an organisation (?) that just simply does not see things in the same light! Shame! Shame!

Profit above all, is the 'in-word' of to-days Politicals and bureaucrats, and if they can get some other body of people to do their dirty work, so that any trouble caused is not on their own doorstep, and also affords the 'Golden Opportunity' of that well known get out remark 'Twisna us!' then its been a good day for them, and, I suppose, in their way of thinking – hell! what else can really matter?

It seems that most of to-days Councils skills and concern is that of being able to 'Pass the buck' – officially, and clearly being seen to not be responsible for anything that goes wrong!

An appropriate motto for them to adopt would seem to be 'Blame the other guy - whoever!'

Walked through Meggetland on Tuesday and would estimate at least 50% of the width of Meggetland is no longer a sports field. It's been hidden under flats, roads verges, tarmac footpaths and other junk.

The council spent 9 million defending the plan - would it not have been much cheaper just to do the work in the first place? The leveling of Colinton mains park is costing arround 200k - with a few extra changing facilities the coucil could have saved 7 million, and still had a large green space.

I await new satalite images showing exactly what is left of the greenfield site.
